Why ALKA?

Why ALKA?

Our work is not limited to determining whether a limit value is being met. We examine an environmental problem from its source through to the receiving environment, assessing measurement, field observation, process knowledge, modelling and spatial analysis results together. Where necessary, with the contribution of academics who are experts in their fields, we develop solution proposals that are technically feasible, effective in the field and trackable.

We identify not only the level of an environmental problem, but also its source, transport, area of impact and practical solution options.

A pollutant measured, or a complaint raised, in an industrial zone may be attributed directly to a particular facility. However, the same impact may also originate from other facilities in the area, from transport sources, from past activities or from pollutants carried in from outside the region.

A measurement taken at a single point may not, on its own, reveal the source of a pollutant. If production times, chemical composition, wind direction, atmospheric stability, topography, other emission sources and background values are not assessed together, an incorrect source attribution may be made.
